I have a couple more articles in the pipeline which I will refer you to when they are approved for publication.
Here is an extract from one however, which deals with how to help children who suffer from shyness. It is a small thing to do, but one which make a big difference.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have found that quite a deal of stress can be released in shy children, simply through the practice of checking in with them as to their state of mind. By this, I mean taking the trouble to read their faces, body language and behaviour for clues as to their emotional state, and then reflecting your observations back to them.
E.g. "Hi Linda. You look a bit sad to me at the moment, as if somebody has hurt your feelings. Is that what has happened? "
You might be right. You might be wrong. However, if you do this well, you will be right most of the time and even if you are not, the act of taking the trouble to notice and ask can be very important. This is because shy children often feel like they are invisible and do not count, in the world of 'everyone else '.
This practice helps open up a channel of communication to another human being which shy children tend to lack in the normal course of events.

All the best for now

Shyness in Serious
Greetings
I received a very personal and touching email this morning from a girl in Pakistan. I have never me her, I know nothing about her and I have no idea of how she got my e-mail address.
She wrote to me to ask for help with her chronic shyness problem. From her point of view, shyness is the worst problem in the world and she is ready to do anything she can to put it behind her.
This girl spoke about the daily difficulty of not being being able to deal on equal terms with her immediate family members, her other relatives and in fact pretty well the rest of the world.
While English was not her first language and she struggled with expressing herself, the personal pain that she endured every single day because of her shyness problem, was abundantly clear.
I have written a short article on how serious a shyness problem can be. It can be found on my website. The URL is:

Overcoming Shyness
Hello and welcome to my blog!
How exciting to be making post 'numero uno'.
As you can no doubt tell, the theme here has to do with shyness and what it takes to deal with it so that it is no more.
So, if you are still reading, there is a high probablility that you have a few struggles in this area yourself, or are concerned about someone else such a friend or loved one who is suffering.
This post is simply to say that while shyness can be severe, painful, debilitating, chronic and seemingly entrenched, it can be overcome and more easily than you think.
Once understood and taken on properly, it quickly morphs from a monster to something more like a puff of smoke.
How do I know? I suffered from severe chronic shyness for 33 years, recovered and now help others do the same . I have seen people go from chronically shy to chronically confident in a matter of weeks.
If you would like to find out more, have a look at my site which is all about how to overcome shyness.
